Important: This privacy policy is general product information, not legal advice. DashBooks is operated by DashBooks in the United States, California. For privacy questions, contact admin@dashbooks.app.
1. What DashBooks does
DashBooks is a private cash-flow ledger. We help you bring together statements and screenshots from gig debit cards, payout wallets, and connected bank activity so you can see one timeline. We name the dollar, tag the card it came from, and separate transfers from spending.
DashBooks is not a CPA shop, QuickBooks, a bank, a mileage-first app, or a full accounting suite. Tax reserve and mileage tools can sit on top of the ledger, but the ledger is the product.
2. Information we collect
Account and access information
When you create an account or apply for early access, we may collect your email address, name, phone number, platforms you use, typical hours, and password information. Passwords are stored as one-way password hashes, not as readable passwords. We also use session cookies to keep you signed in.
Ledger information
When you import or enter information, we may process transaction dates, descriptions, amounts, direction, categories, platform or card source, business-use labels, mileage entries, and your tax-reserve percentage. This is the information used to build your private ledger and calculate cash-flow views.
Uploaded files
We accept statements, exports, spreadsheets, PDFs, and images. Uploads are parsed in memory for extraction and categorization; source files are not retained after processing. If you approve extracted rows, the resulting ledger entries remain in your account until you remove or reset them.
Payment and subscription information
If paid membership is enabled, Square processes checkout and payment details. DashBooks may receive subscription status, plan, customer email, subscription identifiers, and billing period information through Square. DashBooks does not receive or store your full payment-card number.
3. How we use information
- Provide your private ledger, timeline, category views, reports, and account features.
- Extract and categorize rows from the statements and screenshots you choose to upload.
- Distinguish transfers from ordinary spending where the available information supports that distinction.
- Calculate cash-flow totals, tax-reserve estimates, mileage deductions, and related dashboard values at your direction.
- Authenticate accounts, maintain sessions, prevent abuse, troubleshoot problems, and protect the service.
- Process subscriptions and respond to support or privacy requests.
4. When we share information
We do not sell or rent your personal information. We share information only as needed to operate DashBooks, complete a service you request, comply with law, or protect the service and its users.
- Replit infrastructure and PostgreSQL: hosts the DashBooks application and stores account and committed ledger data.
- Square: processes checkout and subscription events when membership billing is enabled.
- Google Fonts: the site requests visual fonts from Google Fonts when your browser loads the stylesheet. Your browser may send standard request information to that provider.
- Legal and safety disclosures: when required by law, legal process, or an urgent need to protect rights, safety, or the service.
DashBooks does not currently use Plaid or require a bank login. If we add a bank connection, we will explain the provider, permissions, and data use before asking you to connect an account and update this policy.
5. How long we keep information
We keep account and committed ledger information while your account is active and for as long as reasonably needed for security, support, legal, or billing purposes. Session cookies expire according to the session settings. Source uploads are processed in memory and are not retained after processing. You can ask us to delete your account and associated ledger data by contacting admin@dashbooks.app.
6. Your choices
You may review and correct imported rows before committing them, reset the ledger from the dashboard, update your tax-reserve setting, log out, or request access, correction, or deletion of your personal information. California residents may also request information about categories of personal information collected, disclosed, or deleted, subject to applicable exceptions.
7. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards for account access and stored data. No online service can guarantee absolute security. Do not upload information you are not authorized to share, and contact us promptly if you believe your account or session has been compromised.
8. Children
DashBooks is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us so we can review and delete it where appropriate.
9. Policy changes
We may update this policy as DashBooks changes. We will post the revised policy at this URL and update the “Last updated” date. Material changes will be communicated through the service or another reasonable method when appropriate.
